Is your front door looking a little worse for wear?๐Ÿšช A fresh coat of paint can do a lot to elevate your home's curb appeal.โœจ Sharon, our in-house paint expert, loves helping clients with their front door makeovers. "When you drive up to a home and they have a nice looking, welcoming front door, it just really makes an impact."

When you don't want to spend money on a brand new front door, a little TLC on your existing door can go a long way. Here's how to get the job done:

- Consider the big picture when choosing a colour ๐ŸกLook at your entire home and consider the exterior colour and accents. You donโ€™t want something that will clash with your brick or siding, but you also want something that will pop. Sharon can help to find that balance.  Just bring in a photo of your home. TIP: While dark colours can add amazing drama, you may want to avoid those if your door is in the direct sun, which gives darker hues a chalky, milky look.

- Choose the right product โœ…Beauty-Toneยฎ Trim and Door Silk is urethane enhanced to withstand all the kicks, bumps, and bangs of life! Stain Guardโ„ข makes the paint tough and block resistant, and it can be applied outside at the uniquely low temperature of 5ยฐC. No primer is required except for new, unpainted wood and metal doors. The exceptional quality and performance of Designer Seriesโ„ข Trim and Door has earned the Home Owner's Lifetime Guarantee. This paint offers a higher than average coverage of 500 sq. ft. per 4L. Sheen: 25-35 degrees when viewed at a 60ยฐ angle. Note: Pre-primed metal doors need to be re-primed for great results.

Prep properly ๐Ÿšฟ
Before you add the colour, give your door a thorough cleaning, a good sanding and take care of any chips.

Choose your application method ๐Ÿ–Œ
Remove the door the make application easier. Choose an application method that matches your skills. Some people are most comfortable with a tried-and-true brush. This is great! Some people will use sprayers, which can give that that fresh-from-the-factory look. Some who have the knack with spray paint should go that way.

Allow for a good amount of drying timeโณDon't let all of your hard work go to waste! There's no exact number for drying time; it depends on whether you're painting a wood or metal door, the humidity, etc. But be patient and let the paint to dry completely between coats. Two coats should do it! Sharon can talk to you about drying times about your specific project.
